You can add image, animation, flash, video file and video capture device overlay to current VCam source video (played from [Files] or [Device] page). VCam has many cool effects for overlay, such as alpha effect, webcam background removal, webcam face tracking, smart move, rotate, etc.
| • | Overlay source selection: |
| • | [No overlay] - Stop current overlay effect; |
| • | [Image] - You can choose kinds of image files including transparent PNG image and animated GIF file as overlay image;
Check [Resize to fit] to resize image to fit with current VCam size; |
| • | [Video] - Video overlay, add another video on current VCam source video; |
| • | [Flash] - Flash overlay, support transparent flash overlay; |
| • | [Device] - Video capture device overlay, add video device's video on current VCam source video.
The video device to be played here is the one currently selected in [Device] page, which means that you can change overlay device there. |
VCam has installed some overlay images, animations, flash and video as sample (under [overlay] folder), you can create or download more asset there according to their formats to make VCam more interesting and personalized.
Set the current overlay object's transparent effect.
There're several ways to make an overlay object transparent:
| 1. | The object has alpha channel itself, such as some PNG images, transparent FLASH files, VCam will use its alpha channel in this situation; |
| 2. | The object doesn't have alpha channel itself, such as video file, video capture device and JPEG images, we have several ways to create its "alpha channel": |
| • | [Use alpha image] function, which will set a gray image as the overlay object's alpha channel;
VCam has attached some alpha channel images as sample (under [alpha] folder), you can create or download more to this folder, the image format should better be gray JPG format. |
| • | [Transparent color] function, which will set some pixels of the overlay object to transparent (whose color is similar with the "transparent color"); |
| • | [Remove background] function (only for webcam overlay), which will make webcam's background transparent and only keep your image there;
Please close all the "auto-" functions (such as auto-exposure, auto-white balance, auto-gain, auto-light, etc.) of your webcam to get better removal effects. |
| 3. | Change the whole overlay object's opacity, either has alpha channel or not. |
The purpose of this section is to change overlay object's size and position.
There're two ways to change them:
You can change overlay object's scale, position and rotate angel by the sliders, and you can also drag & drop the object in the video preview window to change its position directly (Overlay page must be visible when).
| • | [Face tracking] - if VCam source video is webcam (played from [Device] page), we can use face tracking to change current overlay object's position. |
[example] - add a glass to your eyes
| 1. | Create a glass image (transparent PNG format, e.g. "overlay\FACE\glass-1.png"); |
| 2. | Play your webcam in [Device] page; |
| 3. | Overlay this glass image; |
| 4. | Make your face appear in your webcam video and check [Face tracking]; |
| 5. | Maybe the glass is moving by your face movement, but not right on your eyes. OK, don't move your face now, uncheck [Face tracking], and change this glass image's scale and position to make it just on your eyes and fit them. Then press [Ctrl] key and check [Face tracking]; |
| 6. | Now the glass is on your eyes just like you have one! |
| 7. | Use the same method to add other funny objects |
| • | [Smart move] - Overlay object will change its position according to VCam source video's movement. |
Tips:
| • | VCam will remeber the overlay settings for every overlay object, which means that you can use its previous settings when you open an overlay objects later. |
